Chitalimala and Malayapothi are within the vicinity of Erimayur. National Highway 47 (Salem - Kanniyakumari road) passes through Erimayur. Toward Palakkad, the next village is Chithali, and toward Thrissur, the next village is Thrippalur (Erimayur panchayat), and the next village panchayat (town) is Alathur.
Erimayur is also a part of the legendary novel, Khasakkinte Ithihasam by O.V.Vijayan.
There were many rich land owners, called Muthalalis, in the past, but
over time the importance and glory of many have diminished, and they
are becoming less significant in the history of Erimayur.
